A baby pacifier is a tool used to calm a baby down. Mimicking the shape and feel of a nipple, your baby often has the urge to suck and feed. While trying to get them on a schedule, they can’t continuously eat, so when they start to fuss, the act of sucking calms them down and comforts them. This is extremely helpful when you’re away from home with your baby in tow, or if you need something to quiet your baby down when taking a walk or driving with them in the car.
Baby pacifiers are also used during nap and night time slumbers because it helps to cut down on the risk of SIDS, or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Because it is so soothing and comforting, it also helps a baby self-regulate. When separation anxiety starts to kick in as your baby ages, a pacifier can help them fall asleep and stay asleep without you running into their nursery at every cry and whimper.
